History

Alto Motors has been meeting the agricultural machinery needs of farmers for 44 years and is now in its second generation of the family owned business. In June 1968 Elio and Yvonne Moscato along with Flavio and Angiolina Bagnara launched their business, Alto Motors, in a small shed on a farm property in Yarragon. 6 months later a site became available where the business still operates today and the trading name Alto (Italian for peak) was born.

The business was a garage and service station, selling and servicing Fiat cars, tractors and farm machinery and selling petrol. The importing of Fiat cars ceased in the 1980s and the business then focused on agricultural machinery and parts which is now headlined by New Holland. The business continues to be family focused, Loretta (Bagnara) and Michael Molino continued working in the business while Anthony and Eva Moscato joined later following retirement of the founding members. Loretta, Michael, Anthony and Eva took over the business in mid 2003.

The ability to look to the future has always been a major part of the Alto Motors make-up and this approach has led to a number of major redevelopments of the Trafalgar premises to cope with expansion. In 1988, the two families took a bold step and rebuilt to combine showroom extensions and a new administrations section, boardroom and offices. Under new ownership there has been a new enlarged workshop, a bigger and more efficient spare parts section created and more recently a new open wall shed for an undercover machinery display area.

All the changes have enabled the company to continue to provide better service to clients. Alto Motors thanks our loyal and dedicated staff who have been crucial in maintaining a high standard of service to our customers.

40th Birthday Celebration

Alto Motors celebrated its 40th anniversary in style on 13th August 2008 with an open day at our Trafalgar premises. Friends, clients, suppliers, staff (old and new) all joined in the celebrations to make this day a great success. Around 160 people throughout the day were guests of Alto Motors and were treated to refreshments, a seated lunch, door prizes and giveaways in a festive and decorative atmosphere. Staff, suppliers and customers (old and new) mingled and enjoyed the company away from the usual day to day work environment.

Following lunch, formalities consisted of speeches detailing history from the previous generation owners along with a thank you speech to customers from our current generation owners. There also were speeches and awards given to Alto Motors by some of their suppliers for long standing service and the formalities were concluded with the cutting of a cake to commemorate the occasion.

Alto Motors would like to thank all the customers and suppliers who helped us celebrate this important milestone and making the day an enjoyable success. Thank you to all our staff and family members who were involved in the open day preparations, the place looked fab!
